Ah, Italy! I moved there by myself a couple years ago for an adventure - and an adventure it WAS in every sense of the word. I was surprised by the sometimes lack of friendliness/aggressiveness I found there at times. But I was also amazed at the goodness as well. I got scammed out of my second apartment by a renter and was homeless for a week & went to a church congregation that mainly only spoke Italian (I spoke hardly any) and after finding someone to translate my story - I had two people offer up their homes in minutes. It was one of the most beautiful and humbling experiences of my entire life. There are good people everywhere you go, we just have to find them!!! And I am sorry people looked at you like you had a disease. That is so humbling!!! Thanks for sharing your experience and thanks for doing this! I am inspired!
